I am Trisha Swinton, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) & Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) and I can help:
I work as an eclectic therapist, using client centered therapy and a family systems approach. I join the family working as a team player to provide a nonjudgmental, empathetic approach to counseling. My belief is that if one person in the system makes a positive change, the entire system will positively change as well.
In working with individuals, I assist my clients to determine underlying fears, gaining insight into the cause of the fear and anxiety, and beginning the healing process. I treat victims who have been abused by empowering them and helping them find their inner strength to cope in a healthy way.
I work with adults, adolescents, children and families. I also work with people who are suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship issues, eating disorders, and victims of abuse.
I attended the University of Northern Colorado where I received my Master’s degree in community counseling with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy. I am a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed marriage and family therapist. I also received my Master’s in Special Education from Adelphi University in New York, and am a licensed special education teacher.
It is my hope that my clients and I will establish a positive rapport, working together to make positive changes for them to live a fulfilling, more satisfying life.
